Portraits is a body of work that investigates the emergence of the human form before identity, before naming, before language becomes word.

These works do not depict the body: they allow it to surface.
The figure appears as a temporary condensation of signs — a fragile presence generated by the accumulation of letters within the black space of silence.

In my artistic practice, the letter definitively abandons its semantic function to become a primary unit of visual construction. It does not communicate, describe, or narrate: it acts. It becomes cell, tension, matter.

Within Portraits, the human form is born from this primal process.
It is never stable, never fixed. It exists in a provisional balance between fullness and void, between appearance and dissolution. Hands, faces, and bodies emerge as forms in flux, suspended between the visible and the invisible.

Black is not a background, but a generative field. It is from this darkness that the figure arises as an originary act — and into which it constantly risks returning.

Portraits operates on a threshold: between language and body, between silence and presence, between form and what still resists definition.

In Portraits, the human form is not a subject — it is an event.

Ritratti è una collezione che indaga la nascita della forma umana prima dell’identità, prima del nome, prima della parola compiuta.

Le opere non rappresentano il corpo: lo fanno emergere.
La figura appare come una condensazione temporanea di segni, una presenza fragile generata dall’addensarsi delle lettere nello spazio nero del silenzio.

Nel linguaggio artistico di Chris-Z, la lettera perde definitivamente la sua funzione semantica per diventare unità originaria di costruzione visiva. Non comunica, non descrive, non racconta: agisce. È cellula, tensione, materia.

In Ritratti la figura umana nasce da questo processo primario. Non è mai stabile, mai definitiva. È un equilibrio provvisorio tra pieno e vuoto, tra apparizione e dissoluzione. Mani, volti, corpi interi si manifestano come forme in divenire, sospese tra visibile e invisibile.

Il nero non è sfondo, ma campo generativo.
È da lì che la figura emerge, come un atto originario, e lì rischia continuamente di ritornare.

Ritratti è un lavoro sulla soglia: tra linguaggio e corpo, tra silenzio e presenza, tra ciò che prende forma e ciò che ancora resiste alla definizione.

In Ritratti, la figura umana non è un soggetto: è un evento.
