"MASKS" - EN
In MASKS, the human figure appears as a fragile territory, crossed by what we choose to show and what we choose — or are forced — to withhold.
These works do not simply depict covered faces: they are studies on the ambiguous nature of identity, on the surface we offer to the world and the depth that remains concealed.
At the core of each image, as always in my visual language, the letter is a primordial cell: a minimal code that generates form, flesh, memory. It is through the accumulation of these micro-units of meaning that the body emerges — and with it, the mask that protects it, exposes it, or betrays it.
The masks thus become filters of truth, membranes through which thought becomes visible. They invite us to look beyond the surface, but also to acknowledge the strength and vulnerability that every surface contains.
"MASCHERE" - IT
In Maschere, la figura umana si presenta come un territorio fragile, attraversato da ciò che mostriamo e da ciò che scegliamo — o siamo costretti — a trattenere.
Queste opere non rappresentano semplicemente volti coperti: sono studi sulla natura ambigua dell’identità, sulla superficie che offriamo al mondo e sulla profondità che rimane nascosta.
Alla base di ogni immagine, come sempre nel mio linguaggio, la lettera è cellula primordiale: un codice minimo che genera forma, carne, memoria. È dall’accumulo di queste micro-unità di senso che il corpo emerge, e con esso la maschera che lo protegge, lo espone o lo tradisce.
Le maschere diventano così filtri di verità, membrane attraverso cui il pensiero si fa visibile, è un invito a guardare oltre la superficie, ma anche a riconoscere la forza e la vulnerabilità che ogni superficie contiene.
